Cognitive behavioural therapy has been used as a treatment for many mental health conditions and general stress. CBT has also been used in recent years to support those struggling with physical illnesses. CBT works on the basis that our thoughts, feelings and behaviour are all interconnected in a cycle. However once an event is perceived as a threat or potential threat by the brain this will trigger the cycle to turn negative in nature changing our thoughts, feelings and behaviour which then only act to reinforce each other into a further vicious cycle. CBT dismantles each element and reforms it into a healthy, positive and functional cycle again.
